Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day, the day that we remember all who have fought and are still fighting in the horrific wars that have taken place and are continuing to take place.
For us also, it is the day 2 years ago that we said goodbye to Max (or Eggy as he was affectionately known), our beloved Labrador cross who lost his fight with liver cancer. Rest in peace Maxie, I know that you are out there somewhere, you will never be forgotten. xxxxxx

.................and now I want to cry. Life is very hard.

I'm sorry Lesley, I know what you mean though. I have had my cry today and what holds me together is the thought that he had a great life with us that maybe he wouldn't have had had we not "found" him. That's all we can do, take them in, love them and pick up the pieces when it's time to say goodbye. Desperately sad but I wouldn't have it any other way (I'm sure Prince would say the same thing too)

Fiona,

Yes I know you are right. I cherished every minute with Prince always knowing that he was "Only on loan to us" and yet I would do it all again despite the pain of losing him. They were precious golden years and an absolute gift. We couldn't have given him more love but we still received more than we ever gave.

That's what they do - give - and that's why we love them, they teach us so much too.
