Feeling brighter....

Well, it seems like the little man is feeling better so (hopefully) he will go to the ball (or Norfolk) this weekend.
He doesn't seem to be so uncomfortable as he was with his weeing. As far as I can tell, there has been no blood in it. He seems generally bouncy and keen to live life to the fullest. Along with his humungous appetite, he wants to play and doesn't appear to be quite as clingy as he has been. That is a relief as when those soulful eyes just look at me, I'm lost - literally.
The steroids are making him drink loads and we have had a few accidents overnight and during the day even with mum coming round just about every hour or two. Now though I think that's due to steroids rather than the cystitis. Just have to get the visit timing right and it will be better.
His glands don't seem to be much bigger either, so all in all we feel a bit better too.
Looking forward to getting away again and having some fun on the beach with the boys.
Monday was probably the worst day of all, I had to organise his cremation in case the worst came to the worst. Truly, truly horrible. I hope we can forget about that for a long time to come.

I'm so glad things are looking up! When Watson was on prednisone and was weeing every 1-2 hours, we got through the night by lining his bed with puppy training pads. They are the pads that you use to house train a puppy. They are thin and very absorbent.

Before discovering the pads, I would set an alarm every 2-3 hours to take him out. We were both exhausted! The pads helped him get his rest and still wake up dry, despite having an accident in his sleep.

Oh Linda, what a great idea, thank you! At the moment, he is mostly managing to wake us up but sometimes it doesn't quite work. Also in the day when we haven't got the times quite right for mum to visit. We are increasing the times she comes so that will help. He hasn't actually wet his bed but I think I will get some in case this starts. I feel bad because when he does have an accident he looks quite mortified. Maybe if he had something to "aim" for that would help.

You are welcome! Truly, those pads saved us.... Watson was also very embarrassed when he had an accident, especially when he woke up wet. I went to the pet store in tears one morning, and somehow ended up in the right aisle. It was one of those "a-ha!" moments that I am glad to pass along.

Hugs to you and Yogi!

What a great idea of Linda's! The ready made pads would be unbeatable but if the fabric they use in their making would be any good you can buy it by the metre from this place:- http://www.pennineoutdoor.co.uk/Pennine_Fabrics.asp
It is called Naprap/Technabreath. I don't think it would be particularly good for Yogi to lie on but it certainly works out quite cheap and worth considering if it has a use.
I'm glad he is happy he certainly deserves to be. Kisses on black hairy ears. XXXXXXXXX

I'm so glad he's feeling better, and the cystitis seems to be clearing up. Poor Prince struggled so much with it that the very mention of it send shivers down my spine.

I hope he doesn't have too many accidents - house-trained dogs always seem to be horrified if they 'make a mistake' - even of the poor chap can't help it.

Let's hope he continues to improve.

Love & hugs,

G, P & T xxx

so glad he is feeling better. I know what you mean about the soulful eyes....they break my heart every time! Yesterday I had to make an emergency vet visit with the puppy, who now weighs 92 pounds!!, he was limping on his left front leg...they had to sedate him and xray...no broken bones, just soft tissue injury...but his eyes last night from the meds broke my heart!!! Have a wonderful weekend with Yogi..enjoy every minute of the time you have with him...that is what we are doing with our old guy Zack!!

Thinking of Yogi and you.

I love to look in Wilson's eyes and try to figure out what he is thinking and then make a note of it in my diary. One thing it does for sure is make me realize how much he loves me. That makes me feel so happy and warms my heart. Hopefully his too. Should be because dogs are so receptive to our feelings.

Love & Hugs,

Hope you have a fantastic time in Norfolk, the weather forecast is good! Might be worth mentioning the weeing to the vet if it continues to be a problem, in case it's possible to shave the pred down a fraction without losing effectiveness. Otherwise Pets At Home do the puppy training pads :-)

Hi Fiiona..I completely understand about Thurs...I know exactly how you were feeling, no apologies necessary. I am glad you are feeling better today.

Zack is doing OK, thanks for asking. If we didn't know it, we wouldn't know he had cancer. Sometimes he looks at us with his soulful brown eyes and we know he is not feeling 100%...but he is eating, pooping outsids and playing with the puppy still. He still enjoys his short walks around the block...so we are hanging in there.

Did you get away this weekend? How is Yogi feeling?
